Methodology and sources
  • Listing prices are asking prices from live ecaytrade classifieds, refreshed weekly, not final transaction prices. Listings under CI$2,500 (parts, scrap) are excluded from medians. A listing disappearing is our best available proxy for a sale.
  • Honda Fit index: every live listing whose title identifies a Honda Fit, banded by model year.
  • Insurance: motor gross written premiums from CIMA's audited domestic insurance statistics divided by vehicles passing DVDL inspection (ESO Compendium, Table 17.02). This is an all-market average per vehicle, including commercial fleets and comprehensive cover; it is not an individual quote. The consumer third-party range shown is Cayman Resident's editorial estimate, attributed as such.
  • Import duty: 29.5% for most motor vehicles under the Customs Tariff Act.
  • Fuel price is the live Daily.ky fuel index average (self-serve regular).
