Grand Cayman Seasonal Restaurant Closures: 2026 Dates

The short answer

• 26 restaurants have confirmed 2026 seasonal closures, most starting between 1 August and 1 September and reopening by mid-October.
• The big names: Grand Old House closes 15 August and reopens 24 September; The Wharf and The Brasserie are already closed for August and September, and August, respectively.
• Three venues are open on reduced schedules: Bacaro (closed Mondays and Tuesdays) and Tukka West (closed Mondays) until November, and Rum Point Club on limited hours, closed Mondays, from 17 August.
• Most of the island stays open. The Seven Mile Beach corridor and the resorts keep serving; the exceptions are a handful of fine-dining outlets inside them.
• Going out east or to Rum Point? Kaibo closes 24 August (all outlets), Italian Kitchen 23 August, and Rum Point Club drops to limited hours from 17 August, so check before you drive across the island.

Confirmed 2026 closures

Dates below came directly from each venue, by email, WhatsApp or phone, in response to our August 2026 survey, except The Wharf (announced by the venue). Where a venue gave a range, it is read as closed through the end date, reopening the following day.

Blue by Eric Ripert: also closed 18 and 25 August.

Wyndham Reef Resort (all outlets): resort-wide maintenance week; whole property closed.

Beach House (Westin): reopening date not yet announced; the resort is confirming.

Ferdinand's (Westin): reopening date not yet announced; the resort is confirming.

Open, but on reduced days

• Rum Point Club (Rum Point): Limited hours from 17 August; closed Mondays.
• Tukka West (West Bay): Closed Mondays until November.
• Bacaro (Cayman Islands Yacht Club, West Bay): Closed Mondays and Tuesdays until November.
• Nova: Limited hours: Wednesday to Sunday, 11:30am to 9pm.
• Big Tree BBQ: Limited hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 11am to 6pm.
• Saint June (Ritz-Carlton) (Ritz-Carlton, Seven Mile Beach): No dinner service 7 September to 1 October; dinner resumes 2 October.

Why restaurants close in low season

September is the quietest month of the year in Cayman, and not by a little. In 2025 the island saw 26,804 international air arrivals in September against 68,983 in March, per Cayman Islands Airports Authority statistics we obtained under FOI. That is a 61 percent drop from peak, and the same trough shows up every year.

For a standalone restaurant, six quiet weeks are the natural moment to send staff on leave, renovate, and service the kitchen. The window also sits on the statistical peak of hurricane season, which thins visitor numbers further. The result is the pattern on this page: closures begin in mid-August, bottom out through September, and the island is back to full strength by late October.

Planning around it

Visiting in September? You will not go hungry. The overwhelming majority of restaurants, including nearly all of Seven Mile Beach and George Town, stay open. What changes is the top of the fine-dining list and the far ends of the island.

Driving east or north is where the list matters most. Kaibo, Rum Point and the East End have few venues to begin with, so one closure can mean a long drive to a closed door. Call ahead; numbers are on each venue's site or socials.
